For those of you who are 'trekkies' like me, you'll get the reference in the title. If you're not a 'trekkie', don't worry, this blog is for you as well!
I've been asked to start a weekly blog to keep you updated on what's happening in my life, our lives, the dogs' lives, and so on. It's essentially a platform for me to share my thoughts, feelings, random ideas, or anything else that pops into my head. Some weeks might be deeply spiritual, while others could feature recipes—who knows? You'll definitely want to keep an eye out to see what the theme is each week.
Since this is my very first week, I'm going to talk a bit about 'first world problems.' I looked up the definition online and here's what Wiktionary said, "A first world problem is a frustration or complaint only experienced by privileged individuals in wealthy countries." Well folks, I have definitely been experiencing first world problems...I want to be in Inverness, setting up my new house. I want to walk down to the grocery store and buy all of the awesome UK foods and put them in my fridge. I want to open my windows and have the cool air waft through my living room. I want to wear my new sweaters and sit on the couch, snuggled up with Millie (my chihuahua) under several blankets. I could go on and on...trust me. BUT, I need to take a step back and relax. Embrace that I have an amazing house to go home to right now. That I can drive to the grocery store and fill my cart up with whatever I want. That I have an A/C that I can turn down so that I can put on a sweater and sit on the couch with Millie. I am so blessed, far beyond most of the world, so why the first world problems?
Waiting...being patient...trusting that God will provide in His timeframe and not mine...staying faithful in the meantime, knowing that God gave us this dream and I'm not to rush it. BUT IT'S HARD!!! Oh boy, is it hard. Is it worth waiting for God to provide and not to rush it? YES IT IS!!! Galatians 6:9 is the verse that God keeps giving me, which says, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (NIV) and in the NKJV it says this, "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." Thank you Jesus! Even though it's not easy, I'm embracing what I like to call the 3 "don'ts": 1-DON'T BECOME WEARY, 2-DON'T GIVE UP, and 3-DON'T LOSE HEART.
I hope you needed this reminder...I know I did. Waiting isn't easy, but it's worth it!
Love to you all and please keep praying for us! We need it!
Lisa
