Porn. It started out as something secret and dirty. Today, it's used as a tool for comedy and spoke about freely as if it's cool. The truth is pornography literally re-wires our brains and can cause serious damage. It disrupts our lives in ways we never expect. It effects our relationships, marriages, jobs, and so much more. In this video, we share our battle with my sin. Pornography seriously affected my life. Our lives. In infected my marriage, friendships, and even my body. I would love to tell everyone that it's behind us and it has been for a long time. However, one of the things I have come to realize is that I must choose every day. Do I fall prey to pornography and not honor God or my wife. Or, do I choose to walk away and honor God and my wife. For the past few years I have been successful, but like all addicts it's one decision away. This was probably one of the most difficult videos we have made. Make no mistake from Lisa's demeanor. She is stoic by nature, but this addiction has taken its toll on our marriage. You will see that, by making this video, it's like returning to a battlefield where some battles were won and many lost. As we shot this video it truly felt like we were pulling on old physical and mental wounds. Our hope and prayer is that someone will see this and discover a few things. First and foremost, nothing you say or do will change the fact that Jesus loves you. Second, you ARE NOT ALONE! That is one of sins biggest lies. If you're alone you can easily be isolated and defeated. Most importantly, there is hope in Jesus. I can't tell you how many times I prayed, "God, I don't want to do this anymore!" Then he would surround me with men of God and slowly work away from it. You have the same choice. Honor God. Don't honor God. It really is that easy. We were so blessed to have the opportunity to sit down with Pastor Drew Hage of Christ Fellowship Church. Pastor Drew oversees discipleship ministries such as small groups and has been on staff with Christ Fellowship for 15+ years. We're going to apologize in advance for the video attempting to focus while recording. I was on a solo mission and the camera was fine when we did our audio and video checks.
