Well, I survived my first blog last week and I'm back for more.
Our "stuff" has finally landed at our storage facility in Inverness, and boy, are we relieved! Picture this: 36 totes and 2 guitar cases filled with our most prized possessions have successfully made the transatlantic journey without losing a single sock! They even charmed their way through Customs without a hitch. Now they're just chilling in Inverness, eagerly waiting for us to join the party. Next mission: get ourselves there without losing our luggage, our dogs, or our sanity!
I can't even begin to tell you how tough it was to cram our entire life's collection of clothes, photos, household knick-knacks, musical instruments, and assorted sentimental treasures into just 36 tote boxes. Seriously, I think we may have accidentally discovered a new form of extreme packing! We ended up giving away and selling loads of stuff we adored—things we worked hard for, things we spent years collecting. There were plenty of moments when we had to remind ourselves, "Hey, it's just stuff!" One of our core values is, "We give up the things we love for the things we love even more. It's an honor to sacrifice for Christ and His church." We're embracing this value, and we're genuinely honored that God picked us to follow Him into the mission field. The adventures we've already had and those yet to come are worth more than any earthly treasures we are leaving behind.
I want to give a huge shout-out to my hubby! Russ was a superhero, juggling tasks to make sure everything was handled safely, cheaply, and efficiently. He dove into the world of shipping companies like a detective on a mission, cracked the code of international travel, shipping, and customs like a pro, and kept everything organized like a neat-freak ninja. He's a rock star in the world of logistics and I'm so proud to have him in my life! I love you, babe!
So, now what? Well, we're still here...in Florida...dreaming of our soon-to-be Scottish adventures. At least we're officially one week closer to Inverness than we were last week—woohoo, progress! That thought alone puts a big goofy grin on my face. Remember, God's got our backs, and yours too, no matter what kind of shenanigans you're up to or what you're eagerly waiting for. Wishing you all a blessed week!
In the meantime, please enjoy some pictures of Inverness...I know I will!
